FOREIGN
CASH
It is definitely a good idea to have some local cash on hand when you
arrive at your destination. Exchange control rulings state that a traveller
may take 100% of his or her permissible allowance in foreign cash. |
All Foreign Notes are carefully scrutinized for counterfeits. This
ensures that the foreign bank notes that are sold to you by our branches
have been thoroughly checked for any irregularities.
Travellers cheques
Traveller's cheques represent the most popular means of acquiring foreign
currency. They are accepted practically everywhere and if lost or stolen,
are refundable usually within 24 hours.
Drafts
Drafts offer an easy and very convenient way of forwarding money overseas.
They are payable in the local currency, to a specific individual or establishment,
and can be in predetermined denominations. Drafts are payable at foreign
banks.
Drafts are available as part of the annual travel allowance and we also
offer drafts as a form of payment for pre-payment of accommodation, tours,
car-hire etc before you leave for your travels.
Telegraphic transfers – Travel Related
Telegraphic Transfers are offered in a variety of currencies and are a
totally safe and accurate means of transferring money to a particular
bank destination of your choice.
This is an ideal method of transferring funds to a traveller abroad that
needs money or as a payment method for accommodation, tours, car-hire
or any other travel-related account that requires payment overseas before
a traveller leaves South Africa.
The telegraphic transfer is either transferred into a bank account overseas
or may be collected over the counter from the bank to which it was sent.
The process may take up to 72 hours.
